Folding Display Board vs Roll-Up Banner vs Fabric Backdrop: Which Should You Buy?

Short answer: choose a folding display board if you need to put different posters, photos or notices on it for each event. Choose a roll-up banner if you only show one fixed graphic and want the lightest, quickest setup. Choose a printed fabric backdrop if you need one large branded wall, such as a photo wall or stage backdrop.

When a folding display board is the better choice

The board is a working surface, not a single print. The double-sided velvet takes push pins, Velcro tape and staples, so the same set can show a science fair one week and a company roadshow the next. Both sides are usable, and the 360° gear hinges let you stand it in a straight line, a zig-zag or an L-shape. It folds flat into a carrying case. Schools, government agencies and exhibitors use it for this reason.

Our sizes: the 3-Panel A2 tabletop board (RM600.00) holds three A2 posters on a table; the 6-Panel 1-Header (RM1,222.00) makes a 6 × 6 ft wall plus a header row; the 8-Panel 2-Header (RM1,666.00) is 8.5 × 6 ft plus a header row.

When a roll-up banner is enough

If your message never changes, such as a company logo and tagline at a reception desk, a roll-up banner is simple and light. The trade-off is that it carries a single printed graphic. You cannot pin extra material to it, and a new message means a new print. We do not sell roll-up banners, so this is a fair pointer to the right tool rather than a sales pitch.

When a printed fabric backdrop is the better choice

A tension fabric backdrop is a printed fabric stretched over a tool-free aluminium frame. It gives you one large, seamless, branded wall, which is ideal for event photo walls, stage backgrounds and brand booths. Our Tension Fabric Backdrop is 8 ft high, with straight or curved shapes and single- or double-sided printing. Like the banner, it carries one design and is not meant for pinning.

A common combination

Many exhibitors use both: a printed fabric backdrop or banner for the brand message, and folding display boards beside it for the information, posters and product details that change.

How to decide

  • Do you change what is shown at each event? Choose the folding display board.
  • Is it one fixed brand message? Choose the roll-up banner or the fabric backdrop.
  • Do you need a big seamless branded wall? Choose the fabric backdrop.
  • Do you need pinnable space for posters, student work or notices? Choose the folding display board.

Frequently asked questions

Is a folding display board better than a roll-up banner?

It depends on the job. A roll-up banner shows one printed graphic and is the quickest to set up. A folding display board gives you a large pinnable surface you can change for every event, so it suits posters, student work and information boards.

Can I pin or stick posters on a fabric backdrop?

No. A tension fabric backdrop carries one printed design and is not meant for pinning. Our folding boards use double-sided velvet that takes push pins, Velcro tape and staples.

Which is easiest to carry?

A roll-up banner is the lightest. The folding boards fold flat into a carrying case and fit in a car boot or van, and the 3-Panel A2 tabletop board is the smallest set.
